The duration of the internship project (start and end date) tends to differ between each summer research project. While it is generally suggested that projects begin following the CCE Summer Internship Orientation session with the interns, we understand communication is necessary to prepare for the summer. We encourage project teams to clearly communicate what their summer expectations are when it comes to the students time and effort working on their project.
Frequently Asked Questions:
- When can we start working with our intern?
Extension Administration and the the Summer Internship Planning team does not dictate the official start and end date of summer projects. We strongly suggest that this is negotiated between the faculty member/project team and the intern during the interview and offer process - How many hours should my intern be completing/logging for the summer?
The approximate guideline/guidance for summer internships is 240 hours over the summer. As long as the project need is met, and the faculty member is satisfied with the deliverable outcomes, Extension Administration will not keep a timesheet of the hours of work/research completed by the intern.
