Week 1: Starting with the DAIL (5/31-6/4)

My name is Hira Mirza, and I am a rising senior majoring in Human Development and minoring in Biological Sciences. This week, I began working with the Design and Augmented Intelligence Lab (DAIL) on the Evidence Based Cognitive Agent Framework (EBCAF) project.

The goal of the EBCAF project is to develop a mobile brain-body imaging platform for studying human navigation. In addition, the project seeks to develop and validate biometrics that characterize human cognition and behavior during wayfinding tasks.

My first step integrating into the lab was to read a hefty 76-page experimental protocol handbook.

Experimental Protocol Handbook

I met with the grad student, Qi, and the principal investigator, Dr. Kalantari, to discuss my initial questions. The next day, I observed an experiment with Qi. To recruit future participants, I sent a study flyer to numerous undergraduate summer organizations. I look forward to getting more hands-on and gaining more experience in running the experiment next week!
