Please contact our core facility email (CHEM-FACILITY-L@cornell.edu) to discuss your project and receive a formal quotation. Please do not send samples before contacting us. We will discuss methods of sampling that will best fit your questions. Once we’ve discussed your situation, you can send your samples.

How to submit samples

Each sample should be packed individually and labeled with a unique ID

Place samples in appropriate containers (small tubes or boxes, each individually labeled with a unique ID) with secondary containment so things won’t be crushed or spilled during shipment. In other words, collect your samples in small appropriately sized containers, then place those samples in a box and ship them all together. Do not ship whole frames of comb, 1 kg soil cores, or other large samples that have not been placed in small tubes or boxes. For liquid samples, place the tubes or bottles inside a plastic bag and seal the bag with duct tape so anything that spills during shipping won’t contaminate all samples in the box.

Send us an Excel sheet with the unique IDs for your samples

For example, if you send us five samples, label the tubes something like: A1, A2, A3, A4, and A5. Then email us an Excel sheet with five rows labeled A1, A2, A3, A4, and A5. Send this Excel sheet to us when you send your samples in the mail.

Ship your samples in the mail

The package must be shipped overnight on dry ice or with cold packs at the very least. Please use a tracked mail service and email us the tracking number.
