Join the Capital Area Agriculture & Horticulture Program (CAAHP) and Cornell Cooperative Extension for a round table discussion on pork production in New York State, followed by a Pork Quality Assurance Training. This training was developed by the National Pork Board and includes “Good Production Practices” and “We Care Ethical Principles.” The Good Production Practices include: Food Safety, Animal Well-Being, Public Health, Workplace Safety, Environment and Community. The adoption of these practices is essential for producers, managers, caretakers, handlers and transporters.
Our guest speaker, Jim Luckman, serves as the President for the New York Pork Producers Cooperative, Inc. and as an advisor for Pork Quality Assurance (PQA) program. He has delivered training and certification sessions for pork producers and exhibitors throughout New York State. This meeting is free and a light lunch will be served! This meeting is sponsored by the New York State Pork Producers (http://newyorkpork.org/).
