Cornell Cooperative Extension of Albany County, the Capital Area Agriculture & Horticulture Program and the Agricultural Stewardship Association announce their upcoming event, Managing for Today and Tomorrow, a five session workshop for farm women.
A participant in the 2015 Managing Today and Tomorrow workshops said: “I learned a lot about the process and communication issues, but the best part was meeting each week to talk to other women who had similar issues and concerns.”
Creating a transition plan to make sure a farm continues as a productive business can be challenging. Farm women can learn how to plan a successful farm transition in a five-session course offered by the CCE Capital Area Agricultural and Horticultural Program (CAAHP) and the Agricultural Stewardship Association. The “Managing for Today and Tomorrow: Farm Transition Planning” program, will be held on 5 consecutive Saturdays beginning on January 27th, 2018. This workshop series will be held at Victor Lodge, 1535 NY Rte. 67, Schaghticoke, NY 12154 (opposite Hoosick Valley Central School).
The cost is $100 per person, which includes a workbook with fact sheets, hands-on activities and a meal. The course will start each week at 9:30 AM, finishing at 2:00 PM. Course size is limited, so please register soon. A grant has been applied for to reimburse up to 20 participants their full registration fee.
Farm women will learn about business, estate, retirement and succession planning from Extension Educators and area professionals. In addition to brief presentations, there will be discussions based on participant questions and follow-up activities for family members to complete at home.
