Controlling and managing tulip root growth in the rooting room

Many forcers in recent years have seen an uptick in problems that seem to be associated with very highly rooted plants, especially of Botrytis tulipae, Trichoderma and related diseases. These diseases probably have many causes with (undoubtedly) many interactions among them. The cultivar, source (grower, field and bulb lot), environmental conditions during bulb growing, bulb harvest time and handling procedures, bulb storage regime (temperature and other factors?) and, finally, planting and cold storage conditions (substrate, moisture, cold temperature and
duration) can all have an impact.
