BD Biosciences FACSAria Fusion

Quick Facts

  • Biosafety level 2 cabinet
  • 4 lasers, 16 parameters*
  • 405, 488, 561, 640 nm lasers
  • 70, 85, 100, and 130 um nozzles**
  • Controlled sample input/output temperature
  • High-speed 2-way and 4-way sorting
  • High-throughput plate sorting

* Includes FSC and SSC in addition to colors
** Nozzle size should be 3 – 5 times larger than the particle to be sorted. The standard nozzle size in the facility is 100um as it provides a good balance of speed and range of cells.

Technical Specifications

The BD FACSAria Fusion is an advanced system for experienced users, achieving high sensitivity and resolution with flexibility and control. The Aria Fusion can meet a variety of needs with its range of nozzle sizes, adjustable dynamic range of sample flow rates, and selection of sort devices- including 2-way and 4-way tubes as well as 6-, 24-, 48-, 96-, and 384-well plates. The Aria Fusion is installed in a fully integrated custom Class II Type A2 biosafety cabinet for protection of personnel and products. The cabinet incorporates a built-in aerosol management system which operates independently to actively evacuate aerosols from the sort collection chamber. The dual routes of aerosol evacuation maximize protection.

Saving Your Data

Users are given access to a fileshare drive to save data after being trained on the instrument. You can save your data as experiment files, FCS files, and PDFs.

a. R-click on the Experiment name->Batch analysis (Saves worksheet in pdf)
b. Browse to X:\FLOWCYTO\ your folder-> Make a folder for today, save to it
c. R-click on the Experiment name-> Export -> FCS files
d. Browse to X:\FLOWCYTO\your folder->Choose today’s folder, Save
e. R-click on the Experiment name->Export-> Experiment (backup file)
f. Browse to D:\BDExport\Experiment\your folder-> Export

Don’t forget: Saving your data is your responsibility. We regularly delete experiments from our instrument’s computers to free up memory.
