Types of Sessions

For this year’s summit, we have determined some high level topics based on community feedback and suggestions.  Many of the sessions are intended to be open discussion with facilitators designated before or at the beginning of the session. We also have the following kinds of sessions for community knowledge sharing and participation:

  • Institutional demos:  Instructions are available at this link.  Demos should be no longer than 7 minutes.  Participants can elect to send us a pre-recorded demo by September 30th, or let us know if they wish to do a live demo by September 30th.  We will plan on recording these demos unless a presenter indicates otherwise for their demo.
  • Lightning talks:  Lightning talks should be no longer than 7 minutes.  A sign up page is available at this link.
  • Ask anything: Similar to last year, we will have a session where folks can, as the title indicates, ask anything relevant to Blacklight.
  • Working group time:  One request we received last year was to reserve time for groups to work together.  We have reserved a 2 hour block on day 3 of the summit for this purpose.  In parallel to this working group time, we will also make available any other breakout groups that summit participants wish to facilitate and take part in.

We plan on recording lightning talks and institutional demos (unless specific presenters request they do not wish their presentation to be recorded).  Our other sessions will not be recorded, but we will be relying on community notes to be our main documentation for the event.
