About

Brewing Extension Associate Kaylan Kilpatrick, Senior Extension Specialist Chris Gerling, and Associate Professor Anna Katherine Mansfield are just a few of the friendly faces that make up the CCBI

Cornell Craft Beverage Institute

Cornell Craft Beverage Institute (CCBI) has played a central role in the craft beverage industry’s development by providing resources, education and services. Specifically, CCBI specializes in analyzing industry samples, processing samples for research and educating and training craft beverage professionals to excel at every level of their business.

CCBI collaborates with other academic institutions, industry, and regional and national trade organizations to bring the latest technical information to producers, and actively partners with outreach and extension programs to deliver educational resources across New York State.

Cornell Brewing Extension Lab

As a subsidiary of CCBI, the Cornell Brewing Extension Lab aims to provide resources and education to the New York craft beer industry through workshops, applied research, and affordable beer and hops analysis.

In addition, the brewing extension program operates one of the only fee-for-service hop quality labs on the East Coast, bringing expertise and accessible analytical testing to regional hop growers, processors and brewers.

Cornell Craft Beverage Analytical Lab

The Cornell Craft Beverage Analytical Lab offers over 25 different chemical, microbiological, and sensory analyses for craft beverages at Cornell AgriTech in Geneva, N.Y., for quality assurance, troubleshooting and federal regulatory compliance.

Analyses are offered at a discount to all New York bonded wineries, home winemakers, and cideries because a portion of testing costs are subsidized by the New York Wine and Grape Foundation (NYWGF).
