David Choi

Born on March 22, 1986 in Anaheim, California, David Choi is a Korean American singer, songwriter, and producer best known for both his music and his YouTube personality.

Choi became deeply involved with music from a young age. Under the guidance of his parents, both of whom have a musical background, Choi quickly became accomplished at playing both the piano and the violin. While his true passion for music did not spark because of the arduous practice he put into these instruments, Choi found a rapidly growing interest in orchestra, and quickly advanced to become concertmaster of his school orchestra. It was not until Choi discovered pop music in sixth grade that he began to diversify his music style and begin to composeand record his

own original songs. By teaching himself how to digitally record and master compositions, Choi soon began winning accolades in high school for his music from notable programs like John Lennon’s Songwriting Contest and David Bowie’s Mashup Contest. Choi started his professional music career as a Warner Chappell Music staff songwriter and producer, but later departed from the company and remained as an unsigned musical artist to focus his efforts on producing his own music.

As a solo artist, Choi’s personal discography consists of three albums, Only You (2008), By My Side (2010), and Forever and Ever (2011). Favoring a “modern” ballad-like style, Choi’s music has been well received both in the United States and in other countries like South Korea and Canada. Choi’s YouTube channel, which features his official music videos, has over a million subscribers and over 125 million total video views. Frequently acting and producing music for other YouTube personalities, Choi’s work also appears on Ryan Higa’s YouTube channel and on Wong Fu Productions. Most notably, Choi is a part of the YouTube parody K-Pop group, BgA, or “Boys Generally Asian”.

With various world tours still occurring, Choi’s lasting mission is simply to be able to “share his music with people from all walks of life to every corner of the world”. Today, Choi continues to serve as a source of inspiration for all aspiring musical artists, both from professional and non-professional backgrounds, regardless of ethnicity.
