ASAP Congressional Visit – Trip to Washington D.C.

December 4-6th.

Apply here for our annual trip to Washington D.C. Each attendee will prepare an individualized pitch around a science policy topic you care about. We will meet with Congressional offices on Capitol Hill to deliver our pitches and hear about science policy initiatives lawmakers are working on. We will also have a chance to visit federal agencies and NGOs, including the AAAS Science and Technology Policy Fellowship.

If you are looking for a way to gain hands-on experience in science policy, this is your chance! You will be directly involved in the decision making process, get to network with science policy peers and professionals, and hone your communication skills.

Application deadline November 11th.

Cornell Advancing Science And Policy is a student-run organization that connects graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and other members of the Cornell community with science policy on and off campus. We strive to provide opportunities to engage with decision making, meet other policy-interested scientists, and learn about careers in science policy.

Our events vary year-to-year, but typically include panel discussions from science policy professionals, informational events around science policy fellowships, opportunities to take direct action in various policy arenas, regular happy-hour socials, and an annual trip to Washington D.C. to meet with legislative offices (always a favorite). ASAP is run for and by and for students and postdocs so if there’s an event you’d like to see, please reach out!
