About Sea Grant
Sea Grant is a Federal-University partnership program that brings science together with communities for solutions that work. Most of the Sea Grant programs are affiliated with each state’s land grant institution. The Sea Grant network of 34 programs stretches across all coastal and Great Lakes states as well as Puerto Rico and Guam. Sea Grant is based on the cooperative extension model that traditionally focused on terrestrial farming practices except that it focuses on coastal related resources. To learn more about it, please visit NOAA’s website.
The Sea Grant Program also hasĀ a law center to assist the various state programs. You can learn more about it here: National Sea Grant Law Center
An article in the Seafood Source from September 2025 provides a nice summary of Sea Grant actions and efforts along with the economic benefit to the organization has for coastal communities and industries.
