SHANE SAVAGE-RUMBAUGH

The son of Sue Savage-Rumbaugh, Shane Savage-Rumbaugh spent his childhood and teen interacting with a variety of great apes, many of them having developped symbolic capacities. Now a professor of studio art at Stonehill College, Mr. Savage-Rumbaugh still considers the bonobos he grew up with to be an integral part of his family.

The recording of Shane Savage-Rumbaugh’s testimony took place in 2018 in Ithaca, NY. Cathy Caruth and Laurent Dubreuil conducted the interviews. Dubreuil directed and edited the movie.
