Carol-Rose Little ’20 (Graduate)

Linguistics PhD

Carol-Rose Little is graduating with a PhD in linguistics and graduate minors in American Indian and Indigenous Studies and Cognitive Science. Since 2015, she has been working in Chiapas, Mexico with speakers of Ch’ol, a Mayan language. Her dissertation investigates the structure and meaning of nominal expressions in Ch’ol, with implications for analyses of word order.

Elizabeth Randall ’20

Graduating Applied Economics and Management major Elizabeth Randall decided to pursue the AIIS minor fairly late in her time at Cornell, taking four Indigenous Studies classes in her final year and three in her last semester!  Elizabeth used AIIS classes to bolster her understanding of Indigenous issues and connect to her Lakota heritage. Congratulations, Elizabeth!

John Rutkauskas ’20

John Rutkausakas is majoring in Communication and minoring in American Indian and Indigenous Studies in the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences. He participated in several extracurricular activities in his time at Cornell including playing varsity sprint football his freshman and sophomore years and joining Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. John has been accepted into the Cornell Institute for Public Affairs Master of Public Administration (CIPA, MPS) program. Congratulations, John!

Brandon Woo ’20

CALS (Entomology)

Graduating Entomology major Brandon Woo took a variety of AIIS courses, culminating with Prof. Kassam’s Ways of Knowing course in Fall 2019.  The AIIS minor complemented a more “hard science”-based curriculum.  Brandon has also engaged in a number of outdoor activities – for both research and recreation – during his time at Cornell.  Congratulations, Brandon!
