Join Cornell Cooperative Extension of Rensselaer County and Wagner Farms on September 16th for Rensselaer County’s first annual Farm Day Out! This self-guided farm tour will take place at Wagner Farms from 12-3. Wagner Farms is a 3rd generation dairy farm in Poestenkill that has 430 head of cattle and produces corn silage and hay. As you tour the farm stop by each station to learn something new or ask any questions that you may have. Our specialists will include: a veterinarian, an animal nutritionist, someone from NYCAMH (New York Agriculture medicine and Health) talking about Tractor/Equipment Safety, someone who specializes on milk quality, and someone speaking on animal husbandry. Also, check out tables set up by local organizations (Farm Bureau, CCE, Soil and Water, the Dairy Princess ,and others), hang out with the cows, enjoy local products, and have a hot dog with our 4-H Teen Council. Cornell Cooperative Extension and Wagner Farms are thrilled to be hosting this free and open to the public event.
