Shipping & Receiving/Mail Services

Shipping Address

Although Weill Hall is located at 237 Tower Road for emergency response purposes, we share our loading dock and shipping/receiving area with the Biotechnology Building and Corson-Mudd Hall.  Since all of our mail, packages and equipment deliveries come and go through this shared dock, our shipping address (526 Campus Road) is different from our street address (237 Tower Road).  Below is an example of how you should write your shipping address for this facility:

John Smith

Room 122 Weill Hall

526 Campus Road

Ithaca, NY 14853-6007

Note: If you modify your address on an order in eShop, please make sure to use the X0028 Facility Code for the Weill Hall loading dock

Mail & Package Receiving

Weill Hall has both campus mail and regular US postal services available.  Incoming mail arrives at Weill Hall around 3:00 pm each day, and it is then distributed into the mailboxes in the Mail Room (room 101A) shortly thereafter.

Incoming packages from all carriers are received, sorted, delivered to each lab, and electronically logged by our loading dock staff (note: USPS packages are delivered to the Weill Hall mail room).  Never remove a package from the loading dock yourself, no matter the real or perceived urgency.  Disrupting the normal process will eliminate the ability to track the package, and we have had numerous incidents where this action caused great confusion and angst for lab groups.  If you have a question about a specific package you are expecting, please reach out to our team at weill-shipping@cornell.edu.

Incoming packages are tracked for delivery within Weill Hall via bar code, and you can reach out to our team at weill-shipping@cornell.edu to determine the status of a package.

Mail & Package Shipping

All Outgoing Packages must be processed through eShipGlobal per the instructions below to ensure compliance with all appropriate regulations.

  • The first step you’ll need to take is creating an account here: https://enterprise.eshipglobal.com/authcrnl/
  • Please note that you will be able to utilize your preferred carriers and account numbers once the compliance checks have been completed through eShipGlobal. The compliance checks in eShipGlobal will ensure that all shipments sent are in compliance with relevant laws and regulations, including those related to export controls, U.S. sanctions, and hazardous materials.
  • Once your package is approved for shipment, you will be able to print all of your shipping labels and attach them to the package.  There is a table located at the top of the ramp in Weill Hall to the left of the double doors leading to the loading dock that serves as a supply area where you can prepare your packages for shipment, but please do not leave your packages here.
  • When your package is fully labeled and prepared for shipment, please place it at the appropriately labeled drop off location just outside the Loading Dock offices (see photos below)
  • For technical assistance with eShipGlobal, please contact support@eshipglobal.com or call (972) 518-1775.
  • For questions about the shipping process at Weill Hall, please contact the Weill Hall Shipping Team at  weill-shipping@cornell.edu

Note: Federal regulations require training for everyone who ships or packages “Hazardous Materials” or “Dangerous Goods” including the items below.  If you do not have this training, eShipGlobal will automatically flag the appropriate team members from the Weill Hall Shipping Team or EHS to assist.  If you would like to save this approval step for shipping with dry ice, you can take course EHS 3656 in CULearn.  Some examples of hazardous materials include:

  • Compressed gases, Toxic/Poisons, Flammable (liquids and solids), Corrosives, Explosives, Oxidizers
  • Dry Ice (any quantity)
  • Lithium Batteries (only UN Manual tested batteries can be shipped)
  • Infectious Substances (to humans or animals)
  • Return shipment of hazardous materials
