Spring cleaning

After devastating floods leveled parts of the Southern Tier last year, many people realized they’d lost valuable family photographs, books and other records.
Experts from Cornell University Library are teaming up with the Tompkins County Public Library (TCPL) to help explain what people can do to protect their most important documents.
In recognition of the American Library Association’s annual Preservation Week, April 22 – 28, Cornell University Library conservators Michele Brown and Michele Hamill will offer a free workshop on creating personal disaster plans, finding good storage solutions and protecting books, photographs and documents.
The free workshop, “Protecting Your Family Collections from Disasters,” will be held April 21 at 2 p.m. in TCPL’s BorgWarner Community Room.
