Reference librarian Virginia Cole served cake in Olin Library April 8 as part of the 10th birthday festivities for the library’s chat reference service. Olin and Mann libraries hosted informal gatherings to celebrate the library service that allows users to interact directly with librarians using Ask a Librarian’s instant messaging 24/7.

Librarians also offer reference help in ways that users 10 years ago never would have imagined, such as via iPhone app, as well as through e-mail, phone and old-fashioned in-person consultation. Visit the chat birthday page downloadable icons.
