Rare, but not remote

Some of the Cornell’s greatest treasures are joining the social media movement: The library’s Division of Rare and Manuscript Collections is now on Facebook. Becoming a fan of the page means access to news about RMC collections, new acquisitions and events.

Images and descriptions of newly arrived materials include a Nellie Bly board game from about 1890 and a collection on black metal music (a subgenre of heavy metal). More images reflecting the diverse range of the library’s rare collecting programs will be added frequently.

The page also showcases historic photographs from the University Archives — most recently, images of the campus cloaked in snow during long ago winters. Fans are invited to write on the Facebook wall and share comments and insights about the collections.
