According to Thomson Reuters’ ScienceWatch.com, the paper “Collective dynamics of ‘small-world’ networks” (Nature 393[6684]: 440-2, 4 June 1998) ranks No. 6 among highly cited papers in physics over the past decade. Its authors are Steven Strogatz, the Jacob Gould Schurman Professor of Applied Mathematics at Cornell, and Duncan Watts, a principal research scientist at Yahoo! Research and a professor of sociology at Columbia University.
