Redmen turn pro

Three Cornell hockey players continue their careers in three professional leagues. Doug Krantz, Raymond Sawada and Topher Scott (pictured) each signed a professional contract following the end of the Cornell men’s hockey season on March 22 in Albany, N.Y. All three had exhausted their collegiate eligibility and were on track to graduate with their class in May. Each player plans to finish his degree.
Krantz joined the Texas Brahmas of the Central Hockey League and made his debut March 30. His teammates include Kevin McLeod ’07. Sawada signed a two-year deal with the Dallas Stars of the National Hockey League and was assigned to the Stars’ affiliate in the American Hockey League, the Iowa Stars. Sawada made his pro debut March 28.
Scott, the first player to sign a professional deal, elected to stay local and signed with the Elmira Jackals of the ECHL. He made his professional debut March 26.
