The Geneva Arboretum Association held its annual Arbor Day tree planting on Friday, April 30.

This year we honored Martin Goffinet for his 20 years of leadership of our organization. We planted one of his favorites, a Kentucky Coffeetree, on the lawn northeast of Jordan Hall.  Martin has walked this route many thousand times on his regular commute.

On Martin’s retirement, Thomas Björkman succeeds him as chair of the Arboretum Association. The group continues to work with our grounds crew to plan our woody ornamental plantings on campus.

The next GAA event will be a memorial tree dedication for our late grounds manager, David Cain. The Association is currently collecting contributions for purchasing that tree.
