SiGMA is the graduate student organization for the Cornell Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering department. If you are a grad student in MAE, you are a member of SiGMA!
Events such as the Sibley Graduate Research Symposium and the SiGMA seminar series are oriented towards the professional development of graduate students of MAE.
SiGMA organizes outreach events to give back to the local and NY state community such as the Big Red Barn Kids science day, expanding your horizons at Cornell, and Lego robotics outreach.
SiGMA hosts a number of social events for students to get together and relax outside of the lab! Events throughout the year include ice cream socials, field days, game nights, holiday-themed events.
If you want to help but you aren’t sure in how much time you can commit or you aren’t sure what you are interested in, feel free to attend any of the SiGMA committee meetings. Meeting times are listed on the Events page.
SiGMA Clothing Drive
Do you want to get a really early start on spring cleaning your closet? Have you recently watched Marie Kondo on Netflix and thinking about giving it a try? Do you just have a bunch of (gently used) clothes you want to get rid of?
SiGMA has a solution to help you and let you help the local community at the same time!
SiGMA is hosting a clothing drive from 2/25 (next Monday) to 3/18 (three weeks later)! We will be collecting gently used clothing (jackets, sweaters, shirts, pants, etc.). Boxes will be on the 3rd, 4th, and 5th floors of Upson Hall and on the 2nd and 3rd floors of Kimball Hall. The clothing will be donated to the Ithaca Rescue Mission and Salvation Army to help those in the local community.
