Research interests:

Cynthia is interested in the genomic variation found within and between populations of a species and how this impacts their conservation status. Specifically, she is curious about changes in genome structure that occur when a species is introduced to novel habitats and the genetic and evolutionary pathways that enable or restrain them to be resilient. Cynthia is currently working as a lab tech in the Aquadro Lab at Cornell where she is learning about the evolution of the Drosophila bag of marbles gene and gaining skills in functional genomic analysis. In her future research as a graduate student she hopes to discover more about the processes that make a species resilient and apply this knowledge to better understand the future impacts of changing climate and landscapes.

Brief CV:
