Alex Silva received a Bachelor of Science in Bioprocess Engineering from the Federal University of São João del-Rei, Brazil (2017), and was awarded with an undergraduate scholarship to spend part of his studies abroad at the University of Toronto, Canada (2015). Throughout his undergraduate program, Alex worked on multiple projects involving microbiology, molecular biology, and bioinformatics. Projects included research on biodiesel production from microalgae, soil metagenomics, and data analysis of schizophrenia-related polymorphisms.
Alex joined the EVADE lab in 2017, where he works as a technician. He is primarily involved in projects on pathogens of table beet with a focus in phylogeny, population genetics, and pathogenicity studies.
