Library Guides: The Hidden Hack for Library Research

Are you struggling to find sources for your research project but aren’t sure how to start?

Need help navigating library resources but not quite ready to ask for help?

Check out our Library Guides!

Library guides (sometimes referred to as Research Guides or LibGuides) are curated online documents full of library resources, research advice, and library tips and tricks! Created by our very own librarians and library staff – we’ve got library guides for almost any type of research need you may have!

Our Library Guides are separated into three categories: Course Guides,  Subject Guides and Skill Guides.

Course guides are created as a supplement for a specific Cornell course. They are usually built by a subject librarian at the request of a professor. Ask your professor if there is a Library Guide for your course or search the ones we already have! There may not be one for your specific course but there may be a similar one already created!

Subject guides group together with resources (like databases and journals) specific to a certain theme or subject. We have guides in over 50 subjects with topics ranging from general Library Research at Cornell to Automotive Engineering to Comics and Graphic Novels!

Our skill guides highlight resources or software. Examples include Ebooks at Cornell, GIS: Geographic Information Systems, and How to Prepare an Annotated Bibliography.

If you want to research it, we’ve probably got a guide for it!

Most of our guides include contact information for the subject librarian who put it together. You can contact them directly, or you can always Ask A Librarian through email or live chat!
