President Obama and Gov. Romney sparred with each other at the 1st Presidential Debate of the 2012 election Wednesday night. They debated each other for 90 minutes, but there was hardly a mention of climate or environmental issues. The word “water” appeared just once in the transcript, and that was before the candidates appeared on stage. That one instance was the host thanking the International Bottled Water Association for co-sponsoring the event.
With one of the remaining two debates reserved for foreign policy, there is very little chance either of the candidates will be forced to make a definitive statement on environmental issues in front of a prime time audience.
