About Nikki

“I was born. Now I go to Cornell.” -Dad’s biography of my life

Hello friends, my name is Nikki. Thanks for checking out my blog and allowing me to share a little bit of my life with you.

I bounced into the world on May Day, 1986, in Honolulu, Hawaii. I lived in Hawaii for about 3 years. I spent the early years of my life catching the rays poolside and picking my favorite orange fruit – as I called them, “um-ni-um-ni-ums” – off my neighbor’s tree.

At age 3, I moved with my family to Elizabethtown, Kentucky. My Mom said she knew we lived in the South when I came home from kindergarten and said “Onnnee, Twwwoo, Three, Fourrr, Faahhvve.” I’ve lost the endearing southern accent since, but whenever I’m around someone with a little bit of a drawl, it comes back. Ya’ll know what I mean.

At age 10, I headed to the Midwest. For the last eleven years, I have lived in Hudson, Ohio, with my family – Dad, Mom, Daniel and Griffey the Golden Retriever.

Currently, I am a senior American Studies major in the College of Arts and Sciences. I am a Student Manager for Cornell Information and Visitor Relations? This job entails giving tours to prospective students and answering phone calls for the general information switchboard at Cornell, (607)-254-INFO, and e-mails, info@cornell.edu. These are great contacts if you have any questions about Cornell, or want to get the chance to talk to me (an honor, obviously).

I’m also a peer counselor, a member of the Delta Delta Delta sorority and a Meinig Family Cornell National Scholar. I’m spending my senior year living with three of my best friends in a lovely little place in Collegetown (I promise such a place does exist!) studying, creating my future and living up my senior year.

Thanks for stopping in – I hope you enjoy your serving of “A Slice.”
