Here is a great website that I came across which provides brief summaries and links to websites/organizations that address this particular broad issue (one of which is 'One Laptop per Child' which is specifically mentioned as an option for topic A in the paper):

I found that the three links provided here (Greenberg, Paul, Albanesius), although interesting, were more technologically-driven than socially. In other words--in writing my paper I have found myself thinking more about the societal, educational, etc., implications of the overall point of OLPC's mission, so I have been looking for articles more relevant to that point of view/train of thought...here is an interesting article I found on some of the positive effects that were recently made by providing coomputers to children in Afghanistan.

Great find, Stephanie, thanks. (You'll notice that your TA, Josh Braun, presented two papers at that symposium!) We're hoping that they'll post the video of Kydd's speech soon -- if they put it up in time for this assignment, I'll add it to this post.

An interesting article to look at from the International Symposium on online journalism... it is short and not very in-depth but gave me some direction...

The 4chan article was a Featured Article, which is why it's relatively well-written.

An interesting article: http://weburbanist.com/2010/03/06/clean-city-sao-paulo-scrubbed-of-outdoor-ads/

It was mentioned that one possibility here would just be to ban all ads, and that's just what they did.
