Happy Pineapple Friday!
MMH 2015 had the honor of meeting this week’s Dean’s Distinguished Lecture Series speaker, Mr. Keith Barr ’92 of InterContinental Hotel Group (IHG). Keith started his hospitality career as a chef and helped to open Statler Hotel’s Taverna Banfi while he was an undergraduate at Cornell’s School of Hotel Administration. He has spent the last 13 years with IHG and has worked in many countries such as Australia, New Zealand, and most recently served as IHG’s CEO in Greater China before relocating to London as the Chief Commercial Officer of IHG. A key takeaway from our discussion forum with Keith is his advice in working with various cultures is to recognize that it’s “not bad, just different.” Thank you Keith for coming to speak with us and for taking part of MMH’s “Pineapple Friday”!
