Cornell Media Relations is the university’s representative to local, regional, national and international media organizations. Part of University Relations, Media Relations works across the university to connect faculty experts and thought leaders with print, broadcast and digital media.

Our office is responsible for:

  • Creating and distributing press releases, tip sheets, and media advisories.
  • Assisting journalists looking for faculty voices, and promoting our experts.
  • Facilitating media coverage of Cornell, including media visits to campus.
  • Providing media training and assistance when engaging with the media.
  • Facilitating media interviews through our audio and video broadcast studios.

Check out the latest featured video: Since it became operational in July 2000, Lake Source Cooling has saved an average of 25 million kilowatt-hours of electricity per year versus previous cooling methods — enough to supply electricity continuously to 2,500 homes in Tompkins County. The electricity usage and costs to cool Cornell and Ithaca High School have been reduced by about 85 percent. The start of LSC served as the kickoff to the Energy Conservation Initiative at Cornell, focused on ways to reduce carbon dioxide emissions from energy use in a cost-effective manner.
