Introduction
During the fall semester of 2008, I studied economic development & globalization with SIT Study Abroad / WorldLearning in Chile. My home base was the country’s capital of Santiago, but various educational excursions allowed me to see everything from the Atacama Desert – where rainfall hasn’t been recorded in a century – to the Lakes Region, where it’s hard to believe you’re still in South America with snow-capped volcanoes on the horizon and blond-haired descendants of the region’s original German colonizers walking the streets.
