Frequently Asked Questions

Seriously? You’re going to let us blog?

Seriously. We’re going to let you blog.

Can we blog about whatever we want?

Within reason, yes.

As the Amazing Spiderman says, with great power comes great responsibility. These blogs will be highly visible from the main Cornell web site, which means that your readers will be prospective students, their parents, alumni, the media…your prospective employers…all people who do not need to know about how much beer you drank on Slope Day or the sordid details of your Friday night hookup.

That is not to say that topics like Slope Day and your [ahem] romantic endeavors are forbidden. These blogs should present an accurate and authentic view of what it is like to be at Cornell. We ask that you approach delicate topics, well, delicately. Like your mother says: “Use your best judgment.”

Are you going to edit my blog?

No.

However. If you think that you would get in trouble for saying something, you probably will. That’s the line, people. You’re smart. Use those Ivy League brains.

If that fails, consider the following: WWYMD? What Would Your Mother Do? If the answer is anything that even resembles “shake her head in disgust”, don’t post it.

Am I allowed to say bad things about Cornell?

You are allowed to express your opinions. However, you should do so in a responsible, respectful manner.
