Cornell Cooperative Extension ENYCHP – Temporary Field Research Technician Sought

The Eastern NY Commercial Horticulture program is an extension and applied research program that serves fruit and vegetable growers in eastern NY state.

We are looking for a research technician to begin work this spring.

This is a full-time (39 hours / week) six-month appointment with possible extension depending on funding and performance. This position is located in the Hudson Valley in Highland, New York. Applicants should have formal training beyond a High School Diploma and 6+ months of experience in an agriculture setting or the equivalent combination of education and experience. They should have a proven ability to work independently in collecting and summarizing data, competence utilizing current computer technology, and be well organized and excellent communicators. About Peter J Jentsch

Peter J. Jentsch serves the mid-Hudson Valley pome fruit, grape and vegetable growers as the Senior Extension Associate in the Department of Entomology for Cornell University’s Hudson Valley Laboratory located in Highland, NY. He provides regional farmers with information on insect related research conducted on the laboratory’s 20-acre research farm for use in commercial and organic fruit and vegetable production. Peter is a graduate of the University of Nebraska with a Masters degree in Entomology. He is presently focusing on invasive insect species, monitoring in the urban environment and commercial agricultural production systems throughout the state
