myCornell retiring 7/9

The final date is set! On July 9, my.Cornell.edu will be retired, due to an imbalance between low usage and overall support costs.

Status of the myCornell retirement

  • Over the past few months, we have been coordinating with myCornell representatives (owners of each tab) to move departmental content to other websites. Most content is already moved. We have a few more to complete, but everything will be done prior to the retirement date. After July 9, links to content will be provided on a sorry page.
  • It was possible for individuals to create “My Bookmark” portlets in myCornell. We were able to ascertain that approximately 100 individuals were using this feature. On Monday, June 16, we emailed all affected users to inform them about the change, and to let them know how to copy their bookmarks out of myCornell. We will provide a final reminder to these users during the last week of June.

What to expect after myCornell is retired

When the website is retired, on July 9, you will see a sorry page with a list of links mapping each department tab to its new content location. THE SORRY PAGE IS TEMPORARY: It will only be available until the end of the 2014 calendar year. Please bookmark department content in your browser or with another tool and stop using the myCornell page at your earliest convenience.

Volunteers Still Needed for IT Conference

The IT Community Conference Program Committee sincerely requests just a few minutes of your time to help with various tasks on June 18, the day of the conference.

If you can volunteer to do one of the following jobs, please email thefutureofitatcornell@cornell.edu right away. Most jobs take only a few minutes and will not detract from your full participation in the conference.

  • Furniture organizers for panel discussion: Four people needed from 9:45 to 10:15 a.m. to move furniture onto the stage in G10 Biotech in support of the panel discussion.
  • Microphone wranglers: Four people are needed from 10:45 to 11:30 a.m. to rove with portable mics in support of people in the audience who want to ask questions during the panel discussion.
  • Directing at ILR: A total of four people are needed to help people find afternoon session locations in the ILR Conference Center. Two volunteers are needed from 12:45 to 1 p.m. and two are needed from 1:45 to 2 p.m. You can still attend the afternoon sessions you have registered for.
  • People Persons! Nine volunteers are needed to help with the Photo Booth. The job is to encourage conference goers to have their “Faces of IT” photo taken. This should be an easy sell since everyone who gets their photo taken gets an extra ticket to win the iPad Mini! Here are the slots available:

—10:15-10:45 a.m.–Three volunteers needed

—11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m.–Three volunteers needed

—3:30 to 4 p.m.–Three volunteers needed

After you volunteer you will receive more information.
