Innovations in Teaching with Visual Technology
Tuesday, October 27, 4:15-5:30 pm, in Room 225 ILR Conference Center
Speakers will include Peter V. Scrivani, Clinical Sciences; Rajesh Bhaskaran, Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering; and Peter Gierasch, Astronomy.
At Innovations in Teaching with Visual Technology, Cornell professors will share their experience using visual tools to support learning. The presentations and discussions will focus on benefits that apply across disciplines.
Technologies used include:
- A web-based tutorial that guides students through the process of developing research designs and analyzing results. The tutorial includes interactive animations, video and quizzes.
- Tutorials for leading statistical software packages that are hoped to be expanded into a comprehensive, searchable, wiki-based online learning system covering a large number of case studies, ranging from basic to advanced.
- A liquid wave tank that helps students to visualize equations and conduct astrophysics experiments.
