Is Old Actually Gold?

Most of the internet users rely on Google for their searches, but about 25% of the users use Bing to conduct their online searches. Bing and Google use different search algorithms so they can offer different search results when clients conduct searches with the same words. Google is known for using PageRank, which is patented by Standford University, with additional features that refine their search while the method that Bing uses for searches is unclear although it is updated frequently to improve search results.

One interesting thing that both Bing and Google makes part of their search process is the “freshness” of a page. In order words, the time period that the pages existed. Bing believes the older the page, the better content it has so it rewards older pages with higher rankings than new ones. Part of the reasoning behind this is that it wants to provide the client with accurate search queries. This makes sense in some cases where older pages with more clicks will probably provide more accurate information but in other cases, for example, in research, more recent papers will probably provide a more accurate answer to advancement in knowledge.

On the other hand, Google cherishes the freshness and ranks pages that are “fresher” higher in their search results. That being said, if you are looking for something fresh, Google it!
