Can’t Beat Google

Source http://thenextweb.com/microsoft/2011/10/12/bing-fails-to-grow-in-september/

This may not come as a surprise to many of you but Bing has not been succeeding as it failed to grow in September and it’s pretty easy to tell why and how. The big powerhouse in the search industry, GOOGLE INC, has basically held a  monopoly over the search engines and are apart of daily lives. Because google.com is so popular, it stays popular and garners users everyday, very similar to an information cascade. Since google is so popular already, people see that and continue to use it and so do companies.

Bing is the new kid on the block is a sense in that it is a new search engine competing with Google. Even with a considerable amount of advertising, it is hard to compete with such a powerhouse  Since google has already a dedicated database, most of bings audience will be new users. New users find there way around the web will choose a search engine from many sources (most likely other people around them) but lets say they look at Google and bing as far as users go (to base their popularity) and they will see that since everyone’s on google then google must be the best place to be because they will assume that something must be wrong with bing since not many people are using it. Doing this, a very simple and arbitrary situation you get how bing is nonsuccessive.  In the market bing’s in the rich say rich and richer, in  a sense and it’s hard to garner population or get rich because of the information cascades.
