RadioFlag’s Search Engine for Radio Courts College Stations

RadioFlag, purports to be “the first live radio content search engine and listening social network,” according to its founder Tony Roman.  RadioFlag’s website and apps allow users to search and flag radio content. On the surface, the RadioFlag website feels like a Twitter feed about radio stations. Through these posts and conversations, one is able to access more details about specific stations.

The idea behind this social network for radios is that radios are more of a one way sharing experience, and being social these days involves communication between people, and not just listening to someone else talking. This leads to a network of people that are linked by similar interests in the world, which forms a graph. In relation to triadic closures, I think RadioFlag applies more so than conventional social networks that’s based on knowing or having met someone, since the reason that people are linked in this network is that they share common interests(increases the possibility of being friends), which might not be true between two people that just shares a common friend.
