In this article, Microsoft can be seen to be in either a balanced triangle with HP and Google or as three nodes in a web of technology companies. Microsoft would have a (-) relation with both HP and Google because it benefits from the weaknesses of the other two companies; this antagonistic connection would naturally yield (-) and not (+). Depending on the relation between HP and Google (had the article given more of a context), a triangle of – – + or – – – could be constructed. Judging from the data given in the article, only two edges can be constructed between the three company nodes (between Microsoft and HP and Microsoft and Google).

The relation between Microsoft, HP, and Google is also a simple example of game theory, namely a zero sum multiple players game. In this case, it is zero sum because whatever one company gains, another company loses. The net total of losses and gains equals zero (from the data given in the article). And this game has multiple players in that there are three tech companies in play.
