Hands-on experience at the historical Ellwanger Estate for persons aspiring to a career in horticulture, gardening and landscape architecture or design.

Interns work with myself and volunteers in all phases of garden maintenance & development. Includes planting, weeding, watering, mulching, pruning, interacting with a few visitors. May also become involved in special projects such as accession records, garden inventories, plant signage or flower arranging. The estate is located on 3 urban acres and consists of 3 display gardens, one greenhouse.

Previous gardening experience and course work in horticulture, gardening or landscape design required. Junior and senior undergraduate students preferred. Must be responsible, self-motivated, capable of the strenuous nature of gardening.

Summer internships are 12 weeks, 10-15 hours per week starting in mid to late May, 2012. Salary/Credit: Stipend of $7.50/hour
