We are offering summer internships. This is a great opportunity to gain great botanical garden work experience. Heritage is the former home of rhododendron hybridizer Charles Dexter and many of his spectacular collection are now mature and truly incredible.
These internships are for the period of May through late August and we are willing to work with your schedule. Students will work directly for and with the Director of Horticulture in the gardens doing various duties as required to maintain a public garden. Interns are scheduled to work 40 hrs a week at an hourly rate of $10. Additional hours may be required during events. Students will participate in several field trips to gardens in the greater Boston area and will have the opportunity to lead guided tours to the public at Heritage.
Responsibilities: weeding, mulching, fertilizing, pruning, propagation, volunteer management, plant documentation and other duties as assigned and necessary for the operation of a public garden.
Eligibility: Students should be working towards a degree in Horticulture and preference will be given to 3rd and 4th year students.
Application: Applications will be accepted through March 9, 2012. Send cover letter and resume and a list of references to llutz@Heritagemuseums.org.
