With the wet, cloudy spring, they may not have gotten much of a tan. But students in LA/HORT 4910/12 (aka ‘Creating the Urban Eden’) did manage to dodge puddles, deal with mud and install plantings outside Roberts, Kennedy and Malott Halls.

Work began April 12 when students decommissioned the sod sofa constructed last fall by HORT 2010 (aka ‘Art of Horticulture’) students. The compost was used to enrich the soil for the nearby plantings.

All three sites were designed with standards of the Sustainable Sites Initiative in mind: To conserve water, match plants to the site, build healthy soil, use sustainable materials and promote human health and well-being.
