Garden ABCs
Posted by Scott Reu in Classroom, National, Project Ideas, Regional, School Gardens, Youth DevelopmentLast week, we were contacted by an extraordinary organization. They have compiled a very user-friendly website all about garden based learning, with a tremendous amount of resources for educators, parents, and horticulture enthusiasts of all stripes. The execution is marvelous, a real triumph. The site is very easy to use, and there is a wealth of information present.
I’d like to highlight a few key areas of the site which you may find useful. First of all, there are myriad how-to guides available, detailing projects which can be undertaken in school, at home, or in an after-school program environment. There are some great ideas in here, and it’s definitely worth your while to take a look at them, whether you have an interest in garden based learning or just a passion for gardening in general.
Also of considerable importance is GardenABC’s directory of GBL programs and organizations. These lists are great if you live in one of the areas mentioned and are looking to get involved with garden-based learning.
In addition, there are lists of supplies and recommended reading for adults and children, plus much, much, more. I strongly encourage you to look through this website; I’m sure you’ll be as impressed as we were!
