Over the past two weeks, crews completed glass window installation on the west elevation at level three. They also completed sealing Zahner clips and started installing the exterior metal Zahner panels at the south elevation. As the winter chill held on in Ithaca, it was perhaps comforting news that crews started installing tubing for radiant in floor heat on the ground level and window glass on the south elevation at levels two and three this past week. Exterior glass installation continued over the past two weeks with crews completing the north elevation first floor and east elevation. They also prepped and poured parts of the ground level slab, poured the west metal pan stairs, completed the temporary roof installation, and installed chilled water valves in the existing manhole. Over the past two weeks crews poured the first floor far west deck, the auditorium structural slab and parts of the floor on levels three and four. November 4: Crews neared completion of the steel structure with work continuing on derricks 22 and 23 this week. Also completed were the installation of the roof deck and the pouring of the third floor deck. October 21: This week crews began the construction of the truss that will form the iconic west end front overhang of Gates Hall by installing the shoring towers and completing the erection of steel through derrick 21. Crews spent a long Saturday on October 10 completing the truss structure for the signature overhang that will cover the Gates Hall entry plaza along Hoy Road. October 7: This week crews completed pouring foundation walls at the west end of the ground level and the basement slab on grade. In addition, they continued the erection of structural steel — completing work for derricks 10 – 13 — and continued waterproofing basement and ground level walls.             [ Read More ]

September 23: Crews this week completed slab on grade prep in the basement. Work on excavating and pouring grade beams at the site’s west end continued, as did the forming and pouring of the remaining foundation walls.
