Fore! Cornell Golf Designers
There are at least 3 famous golf course designers who were educated at Cornell.
Of course (pun intended) we all know about Robert Trent Jones ’30, who died in 2000 at age of 94. ‘After designing Cornell’s links, he went on to design 500+ golf courses in at least 40 US States and 35 other countries.
Landscape architect Gil Hanse, MLA ’89, recently won the bid to design an environmentally sensitive golf course for the 2016 Olympics with CALS professor Frank Rossi. His company has designed 11 golf courses around the world.
Tom Doak, CALS ’82 has 4 courses in top 100 in the world, per Golf Magazine, and has designed 29 courses total.
As for Cornell’s Men’s Golf Team, there are currently 6 players. Alas, there is no women’s golf team.
