Master Gardener’s urge “JUST PLANT IT, NY!”

Just Plant It, NY!CCE Master Gardener Volunteer program and Cornell Garden-Based Learning are urging New Yorker’s to try to mitigate the stress and anxiety of social distancing by getting in the garden.

From resources to assessing your gardening site, to videos on the basics of vegetable gardening, the new Just Plant It, NY! campaign offers free resources from the program to anyone interested in getting started with a new Victory Garden.

Across the system, Cooperative Extension Associations have been answering the call for gardening education and resources —opening up their seed libraries for giveaways and creating online learning opportunities for the public.

In Chautauqua County, 4-H Youth Educators Molly R. Brown and Kate Ewer are offering a weekly Facebook Live that covers the basics of both traditional and hydroponic gardening.

Meanwhile, in Madison County, CCE is gathering donations of seeds and facilitating give aways to county residents.

And CCE Tompkins County is creating videos for new gardeners, like this one that demonstrates building raised beds:
