Every Thursday night at 9 p.m. during the semester ECC hosts the ecumenical Anabel Taylor Chapel Choir in our chapel. The choir leads the congregation in the beloved Anglo-Catholic tradition of Choral Compline, a monastic style service of prayers and music at the end of day. Surrounded by the marvelous acoustics of our neo-gothic chapel, the choir sings some of the most beautiful and challenging music in the canon including works by Elgar, Howells, Duraflé, and Tavener. Each week a brief meditation is given by a member of the gathered community.
The half hour candlelight service is followed by light refreshments in the Founders Room.
Matthew Hall was appointed the new Compline Choir director for the fall of 2010. The service is truly an ecumenical effort and receives generous help from the Roman Catholic Community at Cornell.
