Every Thursday night at 9 p.m. during the semester ECC hosts the ecumenical Anabel Taylor Chapel Choir in our chapel. The choir leads the congregation in the beloved Anglo-Catholic tradition of Choral Compline, a monastic style service of prayers and music at the end of day. Surrounded by the marvelous acoustics of our neo-gothic chapel, the choir sings some of the most beautiful and challenging music in the canon including works by Elgar, Howells, Duraflé, and Tavener. Each week a brief meditation is given by a member of the gathered community.
The half hour candlelight service is followed by light refreshments in the Founders Room.
The choir is under the direction of Ms. Anna O’Connell, director of the Cornell Catholic Community’s music programs and receives strong support from Mr. Erik Kibelsbeck, director of music at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church and our founding director Mr. Philip de Grouchy. The service also receives generous help from the people of St. John’s Episcopal Church in downtown Ithaca and the Roman Catholic Community at Cornell. .
