CUL Joins the Confederation of Open Access Repositories (COAR)

We recently joined the Confederation of Open Access Repositories (COAR), which aims to promote open access repositories and improve the dissemination of scientific results. Its mission is to enhance greater visibility and access to research outputs through global networks of open access digital repositories. Currently, it has 80 members from 24 countries. The group coordinates global collaborative efforts, develops and supports standards for open access repositories, and offers a series of online workshops to foster the exchange of ideas and expertise. One of the goals of COAR is to develop cross-institutional, cross-national, and cross-continental business and financing models.  The initiative’s goals are consistent with CUL’s information infrastructure vision: creating interoperable repositories, raising awareness and promoting OA repositories, supporting the repository community in research management and publishing, and ensuring financial and managerial stewardship.

I look forward to representing CUL in this initiative and will rely on my CUL colleagues’ experiences and insights in contributing to the group.
